Wah Yan Mentorship Programme (WYMP) is a key initiative organized by a group of dedicated alumni under the Past Students Association (PSA) collaborating with the Career and Further Studies Guidance Committee of the school, aiming to passing on education and career experience and life skills to juniors, as well as strengthening the bonding within the Wah Yan family.
Having more than 8 years in history, WYMP has been well received by students and the old boys. Some matured alumni from various professions have been recruited as mentors. Mentors and Mentees will be grouped together according to their education and career interests for further sharing and activities. |

Briefing Session & Matching Luncheon
A briefing session was introduced to all Form Five gentlemen on September 7 2016. Members from the Exco of the Wahyan Mentorship Programme gave a short introduction about the programme. An old boy shared his experience with the programme as a mentee himself and application details were announced in the end of the session. Upon receiving applications, mentees and mentors were grouped according to their career interests. A luncheon was arranged on Sept. 27 2016 which aims to bring together mentors and mentees of the programme to start a meaningful-and-lifelong-friendship. Mentors and mentees proactively participated in the first gathering session and they had a great time chatting and getting to know each other. |
CV and Personal Statement Workshop
Shortly after the matching luncheon, a CV and Personal Statement Workshop was organized during the lunchtime on Oct. 24, 2017. The workshop aims to provide practical support to mentees as they will inevitably face the topic any time or soon for not only local or overseas application but also various purposes like scholarship applications. The workshop explained the purpose and significance of CV & personal statement with concrete examples. Two devoted and experienced alumni, Mr. Ken Yung and Mr. Ivan Lam, prepared presentation handout with both good and bad samples to participants for future reference. |

WYHK X MSS Joint-School Interview Workshop
The Annual Student Interview Workshop co-organized by WYPSA and Marymount Secondary School Alumnae Association (MSSAA) took place on May 13 2017. After the inspiring speeches given by the principals from both schools and the representatives of the alumnae associations, coordinators from both alumni clubs then delivered a series of presentation to equip students with the essential skills and knowledge of succeeding in admission interviews. Participants were then divided into groups and engaged in different mock interviews. Mentors directly interacted with the students with personal advice. The event was conducted in English and participants were situated in realistic and formal interview sessions. Despite the intense and stressed atmosphere throughout the workshop, our students found it a rewarding and meaningful experience which will be beneficial to their future. |
